Mt. Diablo Mt. Diablo is a very challenging and mountainous ride to the east of Berkeley. Despite the challenge, Diablo is a must do: legend has it that the amount of land visible from the top is second in the world only to Mt. Kilimanjaro. Needless to say, it is a fantastic climb and the view from the top is well worth it. Just be prepared – the last 100 meters reaches 19%. | Click here | Hard | 80 mi | 7700 ft |
Happy Valley This ride includes some roads in the three bears loops, but then turns onto Happy Valley road for a beautiful climb up a narrow winding path. It then descends into the town of Lafayette, before continuing onto Moraga and up Pinehurst road. This loop can be done in both directions, depending on climb preferences, and many extensions are available. Also, a “happy” pun in your Strava title is a must. | Click here | Medium | 36 mi | 3500 ft |
